2011 Current Progress

The following are interactive maps showing all Eurasian milfoil harvest locations. Our crew takes GPS points over each location where a plant or plants are harvested, that data is then processed to create these maps. Viewers can change the map background using the drop down menu in the top right corner. Double clicking on the map surface will zoom in one level centering on the point where you click. You can click and drag to move around on the map as well. There is a scale bar in the bottom left as well as zoom and pan tools on the left side of each map.

AIM first worked on Lake Luzerne in the summer of 2010. The work consisted of one week of hand-harvesting with a two diver crew. The crew was tasked with attacking several key areas around the lake shown below on the map provided by Bob Sherman of the Lake Luzerne Aquatic Conservation Taskforce (ACT).

The crew focused on the densest milfoil growth in areas A-D. They removed a total of 356 bags or 8,900 lbs wet weight. The area designated E was treated with Renovate OTF, a recently developed herbicide. The plan for 2011 is for AIM to manage the entire lake with hand-harvesting. With the densest growth suppressed as of 2010, the work will focus on establishing the most affordable long term control efforts.
